Welcome to Garden of Life!
Garden of Life Elementary is a part of Standard Christian School in Albany Oregon. We've been doing our best to provide our kids with the best possible foundation, both academically, and spiritually, since 1979. For us, it's not just a job--it's a ministry. We believe that investing in our children is one of the most important things that we could possibly do!

The values that guide us
Christian Character is our first priority
We want all of our children to love God, to be respectful and cheerful, to be honest and work hard, to get along well with children as well as adults, and to honor God with their actions. If we can teach them to be real Christians, it will help them to make real friends, find opportunities, and have a happy and blessed life. We value academics, but amazing SAT scores aren’t enough to build a life on, and they won’t be of much value in eternity.
Education should be curiosity-driven as much as possible
We want our children to love learning, right from the start! There are times when parents and teachers will need to push their students to learn, but it’s so much better when we can harness the natural curiosity that God placed inside each of them. Children aren’t little factory workers, they’re little explorers. Learning is an adventure, not just a job!

Personal Growth is the foundation of Academic Achievement
Students whose high test scores are simply the result of creative and engaging instruction may become average when they move on to a new instructor. But when children improve their reading comprehension, when they improve their ability to evaluate complex ideas and solve problems, or when they improve their mindset when faced with a challenge--that growth lasts! While we do have some EXCEPTIONAL TEACHERS at Garden of Life, we are even more interested in working to help children to grow and become EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS.
Every Child is an individual
God created every child unique. Education works better when we study our students as individuals and adjust our plans to work WITH the way God has created each child. We recognize the importance of working on weak points. But we also want to learn which learning styles, resources and instruction methods work best with each child, and adjust our instruction plans accordingly.
